At least seven were killed in an attack carried out by Islamist Group Boko Haram against a military post in the north east of Nigeria, following heavy fighting which lasted for about two hours, military sources revealed on Friday.
The ambush took place on Wednesday afternoon in the city of Gajiram, 80 km north of Maiduguri, capital of Borno state.
A military source who spoke on condition of anonymity indicated that three members of the group had been killed in the fighting.
According to AFP, Nigerian authorities did not respond to requests for confirmation.
The attack has been attributed to the Abu Mosab Al Barnaoui faction of Boko Haram.
Boko Haram’s Abu Mosab Al Barnaoui dissident group targets mostly security forces and complains that Abubakar Shekau’s faction kills muslim civilians rather than focusing on infidels.
