Nigerian media has reported that about 83 Nigerians have been deported from the United Kingdom.
According to the PUNCH, these Nigerians should be back home on Wednesday.
These individuals being deported were said to be staying in the UK without renewed permits, while others are prisoners who are nearing the completion of their prison terms.
The PUNCH said the spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency, South-West Zone, Ibrahim Farinloye, explained that the prisoners would complete their jail terms in Nigeria.
He is quoted by local media as saying “We were informed that 83 Nigerians would be deported from the United Kingdom on Wednesday morning. Some of the people affected are those who haven’t completed their prison sentences. They would be taken to Nigerian prisons to complete their terms”.
Over 240 Nigerians who were stranded in Libya were repatriated to the country a few weeks ago.
