Ghana’s Electoral Commission has re-admitted three presidential candidates who were initially disqualified into the race for the country’s presidency.
The three candidates include a former first lady of the country, Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and two other candidates who contested in previous elections, Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum and Dr. Edward Mahama.
Other 10 candidates failed to make the cut despite the country’s Supreme Court giving them a life line after ordering the Electoral Commission to allow them to correct errors on their nomination forms.
The candidates were initially disqualified due to the errors. The reinstatement of the three presidential candidates now puts the total number of persons running for the president to seven.
The election management body earlier approved the nomination of four candidates including theincumbent president, John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress and his closest rival, Nana Akufo Addo of the New Patriotic Party.
Elections in Ghana are due on December 7, 2016.
