Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo-Addo has announced the reopening of places of worship effective June 5, 2020.
In a televised address on Sunday, President Akufo-Addo said the country now has control of the current pandemic.
He said due to the data available to him easing the many restrictions that have placed on human activities since March this year has become necessary.
For religious activities, he said gatherings would be limited to 100 people, with worshipers observing social distancing, wearing of facemasks and disinfecting their hands by washing them with soap and water and using hand sanitizers.
He warned that such places of worship will have to carry out each session of their services within a period of one hour.
President Akufo Addo has also announced that schools will be reopened especially for final year students across all levels of education.
Classes would have to be limited to 25 people at a go, according to him in his address.
Ghana has so far recorded 8070 cases of the coronavirus, with 36 deaths and over 2000 people confirmed to have recovered.
