Ghanaian officials have confirmed new cases of coronavirus bringing the country’s total number of cases to nineteen.

On Friday and Saturday more than five more cases were confirmed with the worrying signal of local transmission.

That means some of the patients did not have a history of traveling or coming into contact with previous patients.

But majority of the cases are imported though, according to health officials.

The country has already banned public gatherings, closed schools and restricted religious services.

Travel bans have also been imposed on visitors but the major challenge now for Ghana like other African countries is having proper infrastructure in place to fight the outbreak should things get worst.

But not all are calm about the surge in numbers, with concerns things could get worst.

What is frightening some Ghanaians is the refusal of the country’s National Identification Authority to halt ongoing registration for national card.

Some worry it could breed more spread of the virus, something that could threaten the country’s health system which is already fragile.

On Social media, Ghanaians have been expressing their thoughts.
