Health officials in Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC have confirmed the country’s first case of coronavirus.
Officials said the patient is a Belgian national who had been under quarantine at the main airport in the capital, Kinshasa.
DRC joins other ten African countries that have so far recorded the deadly virus with cases now surpassing 100.
The country has been implementing a compulsory quarantine for nationals from France, Belgium, Germany and China.
Egypt (59), DR Congo (1), Algeria (20) and Nigeria (2) Tunisia (5), Togo (1), Cameroon (2), Morocco (2), Burkina Faso (2), South Africa (7) and Senegal (4) are the cases so far.
The continent has also recorded two Coronavirus deaths, one each in Egypt and Morocco.
The latest death was from Morocco where an 89-year-old woman who entered the country from Italy died.
At least 109,578 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19, have been reported worldwide.
There are more than 105 countries so far affected by the coronavirus, an outbreak that began in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in December last year.
