Defending champions Cameroon have been knocked out of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019.
They lost to rivals Nigeria by two goals to three in an entertaining encounter in Alexandria on Saturday.
Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo scored twice and teed up with Alex Iwobi for the winning goal.
Nigeria took the lead in the first half through Ighalo but Clarence Seedorf’s Cameroon hit back through Stephane Bahoken.
Soon after Clinton Njie gave Cameroon the lead just before half-time.
Nigeria drew level thorough another Ighalo volley just past the hour mark.
He provided the assist for Iwobi to score the winner three minutes later and could now meet host Egypt or South Africa in the quarter-final stage.
In 2004, the Super Eagles eliminated Cameroon in the first knockout round. Cameroon werre then the reigning champions of Africa.
Cameroon were hoping to defend their title after emerging winners in 2017.
