Gunmen on Friday shot and killed two people including a British aid worker at a holiday resort in northwestern Nigeria.
The armed men also kidnapped four other tourists during the attack on the holiday resort.
Police say the gunmen attacked the Kajuru Castle resort, 60km southeast of Kaduna City on Friday.
Kaduna state police spokesperson Yakubu Sabo told reporters that the Briton “was gunned down from the hill by the kidnappers who tried to gain entrance into the castle but failed”.
Sabo said also revealed that the gunmen “took away about five other locals but one person escaped”.
Police and aid agency Mercy Corps named the dead woman as Faye Mooney.
The dead British citizen was named as Faye Mooney.
The other person killed in the attack is believed to be Mooney’s partner but a Nigerian citizen.
Police say kidnapping has become rampant in Kaduna and most parts of northwest Nigeria.
Usually abductors look out for wealthy locals and expatriates who they can secure ransoms for.
In January this year two Americans and two Canadians all tourists were abducted in Kaduna by gunmen.
They were ambushed with their two police escorts killed in the process.
