An 18-months-old baby boy has miraculously survived being trapped for 48 hours in a 60-foot deep well.
The baby reportedly fell into to the well on Wednesday in Hisar, North West India.
The Hindustan Times reports that the boy slipped into the well while playing with other children.
A local resident, Khursheed Ahmed is quoted by Hindustan Times as saying that “On Wednesday, it was about 5.15 pm when the child was playing and he suddenly fell inside the borewell.”
Failing to rescue her, his family called fro help leading to the mobilization of a rescue team to pull him out from the borewell.
Local media reports that the hole was deep and was a narrow well for water. The boy who wasn’t named is the youngest of five siblings.
Officials from the Haryana’s Hisar district were the boy was rescued on Friday say he is doing well.
How did he survive inside?
Hisar’s deputy commissioner Ashok Kumar Meena said the rescue team dropped oxygen tubes inside the borewell.
That reportedly helped him breathe to keep him alive. Rescuers also dropped down biscuits and juices so he can eat some food.
Then the team also sent a GPS tracker inside the borewell to track the exact location of the baby.
That helped to locate his position inside the well to help with the rescue operation.
In addition closed-circuit television cameras were lowered into the well showing the boy sitting with his back to screen.
The condition of the boy who is the son of labourer Azam Khan, is fine, according to officials.
Uncovered wells in parts of India continue to pose death trap to children. Authorities intend punishing those who dig such wells and fail to cover them.
