The Somali based militant group, al Shabaab has blamed U.S. President Donald Trump for Tuesday’s attack on a Kenyan hotel.
The al Shabab fighters stormed a hotel complex in Nairobi launching an attack that claimed at least 14 lives.
On Wednesday the Kenyan government said the Dusit complex on 14 Riverside Drive in Westlands, had been secured.
Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta declared that the attack was finally over and promised those behind the attack will be pursued.
Shortly after the attack was launched al Shabab claimed responsibility. Fighters from the group that carried out the attack were killed by security forces in gunfire exchanges.
Reuters on Wednesday reported that the militants say they were motivated to carry out the attack because of President Donald Trump.
The group in a statement cited Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital as one of the major reasons.

The two page statement read “The Mujahideen (holy warriors) carried out this operation … (as) a response to the witless remarks of U.S. president, Donald Trump, and his declaration of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel.”
Kenya continues to suffer terrorist attacks mostly carried out by al-shabab fighters.
In 2013 an attack carried out on a shopping centre killed dozens while nearly 150 students were also killed at a university in 2015.
Al-Shabab is unhappy with the presence of Kenyan forces in Somalia backing the government there to fight it’s activities.
The militant group wants to topple the UN backed regime and impose a strict Islamic law (Sharia) on the country.
