A British national on Tuesday drowned in Ghana. He has been identified only as Wayne and believed to be 57 years of age.
The deceased drowned in the Afram River in a community called Adawso in Eastern Ghana.
The incident, according to police in Ghana occurred at about 14:30 GMT when he went swimming with three other colleagues.
The lifeless body of Wayne who was physically challenged was retrieved around 17:30 GMT, three hours after drowning by a fisher.
Local online news portal Starrfmonline.com reports that Wayne’s body has since been deposited at a government hospital morgue.
The body is expected to be conveyed to the capital Accra, as police investigate the incident.
Eastern Ghana are popular location for foreigners who visit Ghana.
The British High Commission in Ghana is yet to comment on the incident.
