American Multinational Technology firm, Microsoft has overtaken rival Apple to become the Worlds Most valuable listed company.

The last time Microsoft occupied that position was some fifteen years ago.

Data available reveals the  software firm ended Friday with a market value of more than $851 compared with Apple’s value of $847 billion.

The two tech giants have been vying for the top spot throughout the week with Apple remaining ahead at the end of each trading day.

Microsoft on Friday witnessed some gains on it shares after it recorded more than 0.6% to close at $110.89 with rival Apple’s shares finishing at $178.60 down about 0.5%.

Analysts say Apple’s shares fell almost 25 percent in October on the back of recent slow down in demand for smartphone and the possibility of additional US tariffs on Chinese goods

Tech giant Apple overtook rival Microsoft as the most valuable tech firm in 2010 .
