A South African police officer from KwaZulu-Natal province who killed his wife and brother-in-law on Monday has also died from injuries.

The police officer shot and killed his wife and brother-in-law in a Magistrate’s Court in Durban.

According to eyewitnesses the man got angry seeing his wife arriving at the divorce court with another man.

He shot his wife and the man she came with killing them. He then turned the gun on himself but survived the shooting initially.

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele told News24 on Monday evening that the “officer succumbed to his injuries.”

Mbele earlier on Monday told local media that “Today at the magistrate Court, in the O Court, in the divorce matters court – there was a court matter that was proceeding between the suspect as well as the deceased.

And around 11:00 when the court adjourned, immediately before the court restarted, that’s when the suspect shot at the deceased and her alleged brother – and they died at the scene.”

The shooter was earlier charged with two counts of murder of his wife and brother-in-law.
