Two people have been shot dead in a Magistrate’s Court in Durban, South Africa.
Local media reports that three other persons have also sustained injuries in the shooting incident on Monday.
News24 quotes Garrith Jamieson from Rescue Care Paramedics as saying that “There has been a shooting at the Durban Courts in Somtseu Road.”
“Allegedly three people have been shot with fatalities. Rescue Care Paramedics are on scene,” Jamieson said.
A security official Kyle Van Reenen also told News24 that there was chaos soon before midday local time “in O-Court on the 8th floor of the building.”
He said “At this stage we have unconfirmed info that three people have been shot. Two are deceased.”
According to eyewitnesses a man got angry seeing his wife arriving at the divorce court with another man.
The said man shot his wife and the man she came with killing them. He then turned the gun on himself but survived the shooting.
A witness who was inside the court said the suspect walked inside the court and shot once then fired five times, shooting his ex-wife and another man before shooting himself in the head. #DurbanMagistratesCourtShooting @TheMercurySA

Police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele who confirmed the incident to local media said “Today at the magistrate Court, in the O Court, in the divorce matters court – there was a court matter that was proceeding between the suspect as well as the deceased.
And around 11:00 when the court adjourned, immediately before the court restarted, that’s when the suspect shot at the deceased and her alleged brother – and they died at the scene.
He further shot himself, and was rushed to the hospital… he is in a critical condition. Double murder will be opened by the Durban central for investigation… as I am talking now I am still t the scene…”
