The Ugandan lawmaker, Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine has now been charged with treason in a civilian court.

The latest charge was made against him shortly after a military court freed him. He has since been re-arrested and detained.

Bobi Wine has been in detention for days and is reported to be in a terrible condition due to the treatment meted out to him.

The Musician turned lawmaker is unable to walk and is seriously sick since his arrest, according to his lawyers.

He has been reportedly beaten up by security forces while in detention. He and several others were arrested over the charge of instigating an attack on the country’s President.

Military court trial

Last week Thursday Bobi Wine appeared before a military court martial over charges of instigating an attack on President Yoweri Museveni.

He was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of firearms and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition.

On Wednesday, the military leadership released a video of Bobi Wine in detention smiling after the country’s deputy parliament speaker paid him a visit.

There have been protests across Uganda over Bobi Wine’s arrest and detention. The security forces have also been on standby cracking down on such agitations with deaths and injuries recorded.

The European Union and the United States of America have all condemned the treatment of the detained MPs. The EU and the USA have all called for the respect of the rights of those arrested.
