Some sixteen nurses working at a hospital in the U.S reportedly got pregnant at the same time.

The nurses all work in the intensive care unit of Banner Desert Medical Centre in Mesa, Arizona.

The Independent in the UK reports that the nurses only discovered that they were all pregnant at the same time after joining a Facebook group.

The Facebook group chat was for pregnant workers at the hospital.

The development has however shocked many at the hospital who are now wondering how it all happened.

A nurse at the facility Ashley Atkins has explained that the development has brought these pregnant women together in an emotional way.

Atkins told the CBS-affiliated TV station KPHO-TV that “This isn’t an easy job to have when you’re pregnant and not feeling well all the time.

So it’s nice to share stories and have that support, and then you find out how supportive your co-workers are of you, and your management team, so it’s been a good experience.”

Most of the nurses are due to give birth at the same time between October and January next year.

The hospital is now planning how to manage the facility once these pregnant nurses go into labour.

The nursing director at the hospital, Heather Francis says “We’ve been planning this for months, so we feel very confident that we’re going to have plenty of ICU nurses to take care of patients.”
