Three Ugandan lawmakers and some of their supporters have been arrested. It follows an attack on the convoy of President Yoweri Museveni.
The MPs and their supporters are critical of the President and are being accused of instigating the throwing of stones at Museveni’s convoy on Monday.
The President’s convoy was attacked in the town of Arua in the country’s northwest, according to police officials.
One of the vehicles in the convoy had its rear windscreen shattered, according to reports.
Thirty people have now been arrested as a result of the incident including some journalists. The incident happened while Museveni was leaving a rally ground.
Security officers were reported to have intervened after the attack resulting in clashes. One person is reported to be died.
Victim of the violence
The victim is said to be the driver of political activist Robert Kyagulanyi, a popular musician known as Bobi Wine.
But the Politician says the account of the police that the President’s convoy was attack isn’t factual.
He tweeted that his driver was killed deliberately by the police thinking it was him.

The violence in northern Uganda is coming ahead of a parliamentary by-election.
The government considers the attack criminal since the President was the target.
A police spokesperson Emirian Kayima told reporters at a news conference that supporters of an independent candidate Kasiano Wadri obstructed and attacked Museveni’s convoy.
“It is criminal to obstruct and attack the presidential motorcade,” he said.
Police are now looking for Bobi Wine who fled the scene of the violence on Monday.
