Health officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo have declared fresh outbreak of Ebola in eastern part of the country.

One Wednesday the health ministry said four people have so far tested positive for the deadly virus.

The latest outbreak is coming days after the country declared that the previous outbreak that killed 33 people in the northwest region was over.

Governor Julien Paluku of the North Kivu province where the latest outbreak has been reported confirmed the news.

He wrote on Twitter that “EBOLA VIRUS confirmed in North Kivu province, BENI territory… The Ministry of Health has just announced after confirmation of the analyzes at the INRB.

“I call for calm and prudence. The media must spread widely,” his tweet added.

Details of latest outbreak

The health ministry also revealed that twenty people have died from hemorrhagic fevers near the town of Beni. Beni is close to the Ugandan border but the ministry did not say when these deaths occurred.

Officials have also rejected claims the latest outbreak is linked to April outbreak.

A team of 12 experts from the health ministry is traveling to the area where the latest outbreak has been recorded.

A mobile lab is to be set up on Thursday by these health officials. DR Congo is recording its 10th Ebola outbreak since 1976.
