Getayawkal Ayele’s failure to bring Belay back to life led to an attack on him by relations of the dead man.

He was rescued by the police but his action was considered offensive hence his subsequent arrest.

Police officials in Ethiopia say abusing dead bodies is a crime under Ethiopian law. Ayele who is a health workers is now in custody, according to the BBC.

Mr Getayawkal is reported to have visited the bereaved family in the a small western town of Galilee, in the Oromia region.
