A Ghanaian mother has bathed her own son with hot water accusing the 11-year-old boy of stealing her money which is less than $1 (GHC 1).

The boy who is said to have used the money to buy food has had his genitals burnt in the process, leaving him with severe injuries.

Starr FM in Accra reported that the incident occurred in the Western part of the country. A police spokesperson Peter Lennox Aidoo told the local media house that the basic school pupil returned from School very hungry and took the GHC1 note in his mother’s room to buy food.

The boy’s mother reportedly questioned her son over the said theft to which the boy confessed to the offence.

Out of anger according to the police, the woman boiled hot water and poured it on him. The women has been arrested by the police and facing charges of causing harm.

Police have said that father of the boy and husband of the suspect is pleading for the case to be dropped to the surprise of the police.
