At least 27 people have been killed in an explosion near a mosque in northeast Nigeria on Tuesday in an attack suspected to have been carried out by militants.
Police officials said a suicide bomber struck at the mosque while a second bomber detonated a device some 200 metres away as worshippers fled.
The explosion which took place in the town of Mubi, according to Abdullahi Yerima, police commissioner in Adamawa state has also resulted in 56 others sustaining injuries.
Security experts believe the latest attack was carried out by Boko Haram which has held territory in Adamawa state in 2014.
Nigeria’s Army has struggled to contain the activities of these militants who have wreaked havoc killing hundreds of people and displacing millions since 2009.
President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has assured his government will work hard at derailing the activities of this militant group.
