Drivers in Ghana working under the U.S headquartered company, Uber on Wednesday embarked on a sit down strike refusing to operate as they agitate over a 25 percent commission fee.
The drivers are charged this fee on their daily revenue from trips they undertake by the technology run transport service provider.
The drivers have said several complaints to the company to review the 25 percent commission have ignored.
A driver who spoke to Starr FM on condition of anonymity said the company needs to review its commission fee.
“The 25 percent is too much, every rider, they deduct that 25 percent from their sales. So you can imagine the money that would come to you as the driver. You work from morning to evening and at the end of the day you go home with very little,” the driver is quoted as saying.
Uber drivers have in the past clashed with local taxi drivers who accused them of taking over their business.
Uber officials in Ghana are yet to respond to the latest strike action of their drivers.
