Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has been named African Football Player of the Year at CAF’s Awards ceremony in Ghana’s capital Accra.
He beat fellow Liverpool team mate Sadio Mane to the top award which was revealed on Thursday night.
Salah has been on fine form in 2017 for country and club scoring 17 Premier League goals this season.
He helped his country qualify for this year’s world cup in Russia and also reached the Africa Cup of Nations final in last year.
Borussia Dortmund and Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came third.
Salah said after receiving the awards that “Winning this award is a dream come true, 2017 was an unbelievable year for me.”
“I would like to dedicate it to all the kids in Africa and Egypt, I want to tell them to never stop dreaming, never stop believing,” Salah added.
Mane and Salah attended the ceremony.
