French officials are reported to have ended an investigation into the missile attack on a plane that killed former Rwandan president Juvenal Habyarimana, sparking Rwanda’s 1994 genocide, legal sources said.
The probe has been a major source of tension between the two countries following accusations that a militia headed by current Rwandan President Paul Kagame was responsible.
Officials in Rwanda last year also launched a probe into the involvement of some 20 French officials in the 1994 genocide in the country.
There had been a contact between Rwandan prosecutors and French authorities over this move seeking full co-operation.
About 800,000 people, mostly Tutsis were killed by some Hutu activists in the Rwandan genocide.
Rwanda officials have accused France of providing training for those who carried out the killings.
France has denied any claims of complicity but said it made mistakes.
