Police in Ghana have arrested three teenagers suspected of gang-raping a young girl and capturing the incident on video.
A manhunt has been launched also for four others who are said to have participated in the incident which has attracted outrage among Ghanaians after the circulation of the video showing the ordeal of the young girl.
In the video the four young boys held the teenage girl against her will, abused her and raped her.
Police in Ghana have said that the victim is currently undergoing psychological counselling to recover from the ordeal.
Ghana continues to struggle with violence against women and girls with several cases of defilement and rape being recorded by the country’s Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Police service.
In October this year, there was similar out-pour of anger from Ghanaians over the defilement of a four-year-old girl in central Ghana by a young man with the alleged perpetrator being freed by traditional leaders.
