Another big company in South Africa has broken ties with the global auditing firm KPMG following the company’s recent involvement with the controversial Guptas accused of securing contracts from the government through undue influence from President Jacob Zuma.
African Rainbow Minerals joins a list of other companies and institutions not willing to continue to do business with KPMG which has lost many clients since the scandal broke.
KPMG also launched an internal investigation last month which found flaws in the work it did for the Guptas.
Wits University has already announced that it will not be renewing its contracts with audit firm KPMG, which are set to lapse at the end of the year.
The parliament of South Africa has also cut ties with the firm KPMG, by ending its contract with it.
The Guptas have been a point of controversy in South Africa as they face allegations of illegally influencing government contracts.
KPMG is to donate the $3 million it earned in fees from Gupta-controlled firms to charity.
