A helicopter on Thursday crashed in Strand, outside of Cape Town in South Africa with local media reporting that the pilot died on the spot.
News24 reported that the chopper may have crashed into power lines near a school in Lwandle.

Western Cape traffic chief Kenny Africa who confirmed to incident to News24 is reported to have said that the pilot was the only person in the helicopter.
Police, firefighters and traffic officials went to the scene to prevent further disaster.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring is quoted as saying that “Paramedics assessed the lone occupant and found that one man had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing more could be done and the man was declared dead by Metro Services.”
“It is alleged that the helicopter had apparently crashed into the nearby power lines,” Meiring added.
