Al-Shabaab militants on Friday attacked a village in Lamu, Kenya killing at least three persons and torching houses, according to local media the Nation.
Those killed were beheaded by the fighters. The County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo told the Nation that police officers have now been dispatched to the area to deal with the situation.
Villagers told the nation that the militants targeted men but spared women and children.
Kenya’s government has said that the militants have set up hideouts in the expansive and dense Boni Forest to avoid security personnel.
Al-Shabaab, Somalia-based continues to wreak havoc on countries in Eastern Africa with very little progress in containing their attacks.
The Kenya Defence Forces are part of the African Union mission that has routed the militants out of major towns across the Horn of Africa state.
