The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has announced his readiness to return home after months of staying away from his country on a sick leave.

In a statement issued by the presidency of Nigeria Mr. Buhari said “I feel I could go home, but the doctors are in charge,” signaling that he now awaits doctors approval to leave London for Nigeria.

Buhari said, his health has seen “tremendous improvement”.

There have been agitations back in Nigeria over the 74 year old’s absence due to ill health with some protesters urging him to return home or resign.

Betting companies even went further to allow for citizens to place bets on his return date to Nigeria.

The presidency has now released photos showing Mr. Buhari outdoors holding a large “Get well soon” card with officials surrounding him.

Mr. Buhari’s vice Yemi Osinbajo has been acting as President so far.
