A South African woman has gained her freedom from a sex-trafficking gang operating in Malaysia.
The 24-year-old woman from Bloemfontein was rescued by the police and will be sent back to South Africa on Monday.
News24 in South Africa reported that the country’s Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula on Friday revealed that the woman was lured to Malaysia to participate in a model competition.

Investigations revealed that the said invitation to participate in a model competition was fake.
“We are working to safely get our girl home by Monday latest, in the meantime she is safe and has been seen by our embassy representatives in Kuala Lumpur,” said Mbalula.
Police in South Africa were made aware of the plight of the woman on Wednesday.
Mbalula said “The issue of human trafficking is extremely serious and I want our young women in particular to know that they are the most vulnerable group to sex traffickers who later harvest human organs from them for trade in illicit organ transplant markets.”
The South African woman and 14 other women were rescued in an operation by the Malaysian Police, the Hawks and the South African Ministry of Police.
