Three persons suspected of engaging in trafficking Kenyans for the Islamic State (IS) have been arrested by police in Kenya.
Local media reported the suspects also helped to finance the group. A police statement on Thursday said the two of those arrested were Kenyans while the third from Somalia.
Police spokesperson George Kinoti said in the statement that the arrest was made on Monday in the coastal town of Malindi.
Two of the men were already on police wanted list. The Somali national was recruited into the IS in 2010 when he left Kenya.
Kenyan officials continue to struggle to deal with the insurgency of militant groups like al-Shabaab from neighboring Somalia forcing the government to initiate several anti-terrorism measures.
Kenya has suffered several terror attacks in the past.
