The President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma is reported to be considering to quit his job next year under a special deal from his African National Congress (ANC) party.

Reuters reported that two senior party source confirmed that the special deal will see Mr. Zuma stepping down atleast 12 months before his tenure ends.

Haven served his two terms as leader of the African National Congress (ANC), Mr. Zuma is to be replaced at a party conference in December, while he stays on until elections in 2019, but that might not happen.

Analysts say the deal which would also see Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan leave office is the best for the president since there indications he could be removed by the ANC before next year.

Mr. Zuma was reported by local media to be considering sacking his finance minister after recalling him back home from an assignment abroad. There is opposition to this move by the president from ordinary South Africans, his opponents within the ANC and opposition political parties.

The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Party has already filed a case to have Mr. Zuma impeached at the country’s Constitutional Court

The main opposition Democratic Alliance’s leader, Mmusi Maimane has also announced plans to bring a motion of no confidence against Zuma in parliament for intentions to sack his finance minister.

Similar attempts in the parliament of south Africa have not succeeded as ANC MPs always vote against the motion.
