The vice president of South Sudan, Riek Machar, his wife and some of his staffers have tested positive for coronavirus.
Machar who is also in charge of the country’s Covid-19 taskforce said he had no symptoms and would be self- isolating for 14 days.
According to Mr. Machar he was tested on May 13 after a member of the government covid-19 task force tested positive for the virus.
Machar’s wife Angelina Teny who is also the Defence Minister of the country and the other staffers who now have the virus would also self isolate.
South Sudan has so far recorded 285 cases of the virus with four people dying from the virus.

The World Health Organization is already concerned about the outbreak of the virus in camps for internally displaced persons.
Last week at least two people living in the camp tested positive raising fears of imminent spread in such overcrowded camps.
