A Kenyan nurse has been arrested and sent into 14-days mandatory quarantine after travelling from the capital, Nairobi, to Nakuru town in the Rift Valley region.

The nurse had traveled to the town to visit her boyfriend but lied to police at a checkpoint that she was going to offer essential services.

Kenya has banned travels in and out of Nairobi to prevent the spread of coronavirus but cargo trucks are allowed to move in and out.

Authorities have also allowed health workers who are among essential service providers to travel out of the capital.

They are also allowed to move around and operate past curfew hours as well.

When neighbours saw the said nurse in the community with her lover, they alerted police of her presence.

Local broadcaster Citizen TV reports that police visited the house in the company of health officials to arrest the nurse.

Her temperature was taken and was said to be higher than normal, forcing officials to took her into 14-days mandatory quarantine.
