Ten out of the 54 countries have however recorded appreciable number of recoveries with hopes high that adopting vigorous treatment measures could save more lives.

Out of the ten countries, eight have recorded over 1,000 recoveries with only two of those ten countries recording below 1,000 recoveries.

Here are the top ten countries according to number of recoveries.

  1. South Africa – 13,524 cases, 6,083 recoveries, 247 deaths

The World Health Organization has also warned that the coronavirus may become endemic within communities just like HIV/AIDS and other ailments.

The WHO also says Africa could face as many as 250 million possible COVID19 infections & 190,000 deaths if containment measures fail & the virus spreads uncontrollably.

Countries must proactively expand capacity to test, trace, isolate & treat to stop the chain of transmission, the WHO said.
