A 68-year old woman who struggled to get pregnant in the past has successfully delivered twins in the Nigerian state of Lagos.
The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital announced the successful delivery of twins by woman on Sunday.
The chairman of the hospital’s Medical Advisory Council, Prof Wasiu Adeyemo said statement that the woman gave birth through an “elective cesarean section at 37 weeks gestation.”
The babies, male and female and their mother are doing well, according to the statement.
The hospital said she delivered on April 14 after “the IVF and embryo transfer were done at an outside facility.
She was thereafter referred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital at early gestation and subsequently managed till term.”
The hospital said this system is the first in “Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Nigeria and Africa.”
