Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo, his wife and family have all tested negative for Covid-19, according to the president’s personal physician.

The president’s physician Dr. Patrina Techi-Ankrah told journalists on Wednesday that the President’s staff have also been tested.

All the results of these tests turned negative, according to Techi-Ankrah.

She said “A day before the president’s birthday, him, the first lady, his daughters and all the staff of his household and I am happy to announce that all the tests came negative.”

The president’s physician also said “A day after his birthday, we continued to test people at the secretaries and as I speak now, a total of 99 persons have been tested and the results have come back negative.”

Ghana as at April 1, 2020 confirmed 195 cases of Covid-19 across the country.

The country’s health minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu told journalists that the death toll from the outbreak is still five.

But the country has so far discharged 38 coronavirus patients who are close to be declared free of the virus.

Ghana’s cities of Accra and Kumasi are under lockdown to prevent the spread of the virus among citizens.
