All passengers arriving at Ghana’s biggest airport, the Kotoka International Airport in the capital Accra are being quarantined.

Some passengers who were informed of this decision confirmed the report on Saturday evening.

They however are unable to tell where exactly they would be quarantined and in what manner.

A Ghanaian communication consultant Lamisi Dabire who was arriving from Liberia said on her Facebook page that all passengers have been informed about the new measure.

Ghana had already imposed travel restrictions after recording couple of coronavirus cases.

The country now has 21 cases and its first death from the outbreak of Coronavirus and wants to roll out more measures to protect citizens.

Ghana’s Parliament on Friday evening passed a law that would give the president the power to impose certain levels of restrictions.

The Imposition of Restriction Bill 2020 which has now been passed into law is to allow the president to impose restrictions on the movement of people in the event of a disaster, emergency or similar circumstances to ensure public safety and protection.

The new law will also give the president the power to also restrict the freedom of entry into Ghana.
