The list of Forbes Africa’s Billionaires for 2020 has been revealed and once again the Nigerian, Aliko Dangote remains the richest on the continent.
He has maintained that accolade for the ninth time in a row, as others on the list struggle to topple him.
According to Forbes the latest list only considered billionaires from only eight countries.
The list is dominated by billionaires from Egypt and South Africa where five billionaires each come from those countries.
Nigeria had four including President and CEO of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote and Morocco had two on the list.
Dangote remains in the lead with a net worth of $10.1 billion.
He is the founder of Dangote Cement, the continent’s largest cement producer and owns businesses across the continent.
Dangote also owns nearly 88% of publicly-traded Dangote Cement through a holding company.
The cement company produces 44 million metric tons annually and plans to increase its output 33% by 2020.
Part of his wealth also comes from the stakes he owns in publicly-traded salt, sugar and flour manufacturing companies.
He was followed by Egyptian billionaire, Nassef Sawiris whose net worth stands at $8 billion.
The last on the list of twenty individuals is Nigeria’s richest woman, Folorunsho Alakija who has a net worth o $1 billion.
