Nonhlanhla Soldaat and Hector Mkansi finally had their dream of having a spectacular wedding come to reality on New Year’s eve.

But that happened thanks to the power of social media, after a video captured Mkansi proposing to Soldaat at a KFC joint in South Africa.

After the video went viral last year, South Africans quickly helped to raise the needed logistics and money so the couple can have a memorable wedding.

On new year’s eve, the couple had their wish coming to pass and are now celebrating a revived relationship in 2020.

The outpour of love on social media which led to people willingly supporting the couple with several donations once again shows the power of social media in this modern era.

Some of the items donated for the wedding included food, outfits, entertainment and even a place for their honeymoon.

Reviving old love

Mkansi 37, and Soldaat, 38 have already been married and their recently held wedding was their second.

They first met at a funeral in 2010 and got married in 2012, but Mkansi, who is a pastor wanted something bigger and that wish came to pass.

“In 2011 our families began lobola negotiations (dowry) and in 2012 we got married in a small traditional ceremony as that was all we could afford at the time… We had the ceremony but I knew this wasn’t what my wife and I wanted,” Mkansi told CNN.

“We are still in disbelief, both of us have to ask each other if this is really happening from time to time. We couldn’t be more grateful to God and every single person that has shared in our little love story,” Mkansi told CNN.

He adds that “Our dream has come true, we never in a million years thought something like this would happen to us.”
