Uganda’s opposition politician Bobi Wine has ridiculed President Yoweri Museveni’s move to win the support of young people.
President Museveni over the weekend visited the Kibuye and Katwe settlements in the capital Kampala to launch a savings and loans project for the youth.
During that visit a picture of him standing by a mural depicting him as a ‘Man of Ghetto’ was taken.
But that picture has angered Bobi Wine who has for a long time declared himself ‘ghetto president’.
Both politicians have been at loggerheads for sometime now.
Bobi Wine who is a musician-turned-politician, has declared his intention to challenge Museveni at the polls in the next presidential election.
The 75-year-old leader, Museveni has however called Bobi Wine as an “enemy of the country’s prosperity”.
Bobi Wine said in a tweet that Mr Museveni for 34 years has “impoverished, marginalised & ignored the ghetto. Tired of indignity, the ghetto rose up to speak- led by the Ghetto President.
He dismissed us. We persisted. Very scared & desperate, he now returns as ‘Man of Ghetto.'”
The folly of dictatorship! 34 years, he impoverished, marginalised & ignored the ghetto. Tired of indignity, the ghetto rose up to speak- led by the Ghetto President. He dismissed us.We persisted. Very scared & desperate, he now returns as ‘Man of Ghetto.’ The sheer lack of shame pic.twitter.com/P9dniq5Qt5

Reactions to mural
But not every one agrees with Bobi Wine’s disapproval for Museveni’s mural. Some Ugandans have been reacting to the issue.
Lack of shame is when u claim ownership over a society and shield it from progress as u personally grow richer & richer. Bobi u betrayed & used the ghettos all u do is milk money from them & never helped to develop. U’re extremely richer than all the people who have been around

Dear Bobi Wine, one thing I admire about you is your ambition. I like the fact that you always aim for the bigger things and just like any other ambitious person, they will do whatever they can to get there.
But I am not sure what you are saying is true. How did you get out?

With your double storied mansion, and fuel gazzling vehicles, what had you ever done for the people of the ghetto? They grew tired of you and looked to Mzee, now the nugu is killing you ??
