Forty Ghanaians have been deported from United States of America for various offences.

Ghana’s Immigration Service (GIS) said it received these deportees at the Kotoka International Airport in the capital Accra.

The deportees reportedly had engaged in offences ranging from trafficking of banned substances, assault, vehicle theft, burglary, fraud, domestic violence and immigration-related issues.

In a statement, a senior immigration official, Barbara Sam, said the deportees comprise 38 males and two females.

They all arrived on board a chartered flight US, Omni Air International Boeing 777-OAE 328.

Sam said in the statement that 38 of the deportees arrived on a travel certificate issued by the Ghana Mission in Washington DC whilst two of them on Ghanaian passports.

Last month a similar number of Ghanaians were deported from the USA for similar offences.

The United States government this year imposed visa restriction on Ghana.

It accused the West African country of failing to accept it’s citizens awaiting deportation from the United States.
