Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Wednesday overpowered South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in their Quarter-final clash.

The Super Eagles beat the Bafana Bafana by 2-1 in a very close match in Egypt’s capital, Cairo.

Samuel Chukwueze put Nigeria ahead in the first half before Bongani Zungu levelled on the 70th minutes.

Zungu’s leveler was a looping header but it was awarded after a VAR review.

The game had looked set for extra time but that was not meant to be thanks to a last minute winner from Nigeria.

Nigeria’s Troost-Ekong struck from a corner to set up a last-four meeting with Algeria or Ivory Coast who play on Thursday.

Nigeria now looks one of the favourites to win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In the previous quarter-final match Senegal beat Benin 1-0. Senegal will now play either Madagascar or Tunisia in the other semi-final match.
