A 26-year-old Nigerian man, Kumbha Roderick serving a jail term in India has been reported dead.

Kumbha Roderick was arrested on September 30, 2018 by police for offences relating to  forging documents “for purpose of cheating”.

Police said the prisoner violated India’s foreign act laws and was serving a jail term for that.

He has been in prison for almost a year now, according to officials in charge of the detention facility.

Roderick however fell unconscious on Wednesday and was taken to a hospital located in the city of Mathura.

The Times of India reported that the Jail superintendent Shailendra Maitrey said Kumbha was admitted to the jail’s hospital on Tuesday after he complained of uneasiness.

Maitrey said the prisoner was then taken to the city hospital for further treatment. He died during the treatment process.

Doctors who treated him said he was brought unconscious and died in that state.

The body of Kumbha has now been sent for the autopsy to know the exact cause of his death.
