I am from Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, but I was born and raised in Lagos. I had a normal and fun childhood experience, though I come from a polygamous home.
My mother was the third wife and I am her second child. I have other half-siblings. I grew up with my parents but at some point, I had to move in with my grandparents because my mother was a teacher and she didn’t have enough time for us.
However, I always went to my parent’s house on weekend. Because I lived mostly with my grandparents, I was raised strictly and wasn’t allowed to go out as a child. As a result of that, I was not exposed to certain things.
Education
I am a graduate of Economics from Houdegbe North American University, Republic of Benin.
Career
I realised that I loved acting and wanted to pursue it as a career but I didn’t know how to go about it. So, my sister connected me to movie producer, Afeez Owo. I started attending acting classes to enhance my skills, and that is how I got here.
Movies
The first movie I featured in was Aiye Foreign, produced by Afeez Owo. I was a little scared the first time on set because of the superstars around.
However, I comported myself very well because I regarded everyone as equals. Also, I had good directors who were not harsh. Whenever I made mistakes, they corrected me nicely. So far, I have acted in over 20 movies but I will still like to play the role of a lunatic because it is easy to pull off.
Parents’ reaction
My father passed on recently and he has been buried. He was very supportive but my mum didn’t really like the idea of me acting because she had a belief that all actresses were prostitutes who never got married.
I didn’t blame her because it is true – some people just use the industry to push their ‘prostituting ambition’. However, as time went on, she started watching my films and that was how I got her support.
Sexual harassment
Sometime in 2017, I travelled to Nairobi, Kenya, with my now ex-boyfriend and a director reached out to me for a movie he wanted me to play the lead role in. However, he gave me a condition that I had to date him but I declined.
There are some bad people in the industry who just want to have sex with actresses before giving them roles in their movies. I am thankful to God that I don’t have that kind of boss.
Meanwhile, in some cases, it is even the ladies that seduce the producers and directors in order to get featured. It is so sad but I will never do such because I know I have what it takes to succeed.
Nudity
Before I became closer to God, I would have told you that I didn’t have a problem acting nude as long as I had my husband’s permission. But now that I have a better understanding of Christ, I would not do such.
My body is the temple of God and people should not become sexually aroused because of my nakedness. I can go to any extent to portray a role but not to the point of committing a sin.
For instance, I won’t go all out for a sex scene because after acting the role, I would have to deal with a guilty conscience.
Plastic surgery
I can’t undergo plastic surgery because I love the way God created me. I feel that people who do plastic surgery suffer from low self-esteem.
I have a friend who underwent plastic surgery but her recuperation was bad and difficult. After the surgery, she couldn’t sit for days and when she started sitting, it had to be on something very soft because if she sat directly on a chair, her butt would burst.
I really don’t know why people choose to risk their lives like that. I have a good figure and I maintain it by not eating anything after 7pm. Also, I stay away from carbonated beverages, but drink a lot of water.
Men
Any man that will come close to me must be God-fearing.
Style
I love to dress classy and elegant.
