Authorities in Cameroon on Friday said abductors have released the 15 university students kidnapped on Wednesday.
The students were kidnapped from the University of Buea by gunmen while training for an upcoming University games.
Those kidnapped are members of the University’s football team.
Wednesday’s abduction came a day after the coach of Cameroonian first division football club was also kidnapped.
BBC reports that the some of the students were tortured and only got released after a ransom was paid.
Reports of kidnappings are not new in Cameroon in recent times.
Last year dozens of people mostly pupils were kidnapped from boarding school in the west of Cameroon.
Cameroon’s North-West and South-West regions have been hit by a secessionist rebellion in recent years.
Cameroonian officials have blamed separatist militias for recent kidnappings.
