Fifteen students have been kidnapped in Cameroon. They were kidnapped from the University of Buea on Wednesday.

The students were abducted by gunmen while training for an upcoming University games, BBC reports.

Those kidnapped are members of the University’s football team. This abduction comes a day after the coach of Cameroonian first division football club was kidnapped on Tuesday.

A club official, who confirmed the incident told BBC. He said coach Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso was taken hostage while driving to the Yong Sports Academy in Bamenda to supervise training sessions.

A former junior minister of Justice, Emmanuel Ngafesen has also been reported kidnapped in Bamenda and is yet to be found.

Reports of kidnappings are not new in Cameroon. Last year dozens of people mostly pupils were kidnapped from boarding school in the west of Cameroon.

Cameroon’s North-West and South-West regions have been hit by a secessionist rebellion in recent years.

The regional governor Adolphe Lele L’Afrique has blamed separatist militias for recent kidnappings.
