Telecommunication firm Vodafone has announced plans to roll out 4G internet services to its subscribers in Ghana.
This is coming a month ahead of the initial April date for the launch of the service in the West African country.
Its outgoing Chief Executive Officer Yolanda Cuba says “I’m happy to announce that there has been a massive support from the technical team and all members at Vodafone.
We will launch commercial operations of the 4G services next week 19th of March this year 2019.”
She says this will enable the telecom firm provide an improved service across the country.
This means the firm will now compete with it’s rival and market leader, MTN for the provision of 4G services in Ghana.
This makes the company the second to acquire the service since it was introduced by the National Communication Authority.
The firm says it is currently investing about $100 million to upgrade existing sites and new ones it intends to establish.
Vodafone last year won one lot out of three to begin 4G operations for mobile services.
The development is expected to inject some stiff competition in the 4G space which will inure to the benefit of subscribers.
