The head of telecommunications company MTN in Uganda has been deported, according to police officials.
Police say Wim Vanhelleputte was put on a plane to Belgium, his native country on Wednesday evening.
Ugandan officials the deportation was for national security reasons.
Last month three foreign staff of the same firm were deported from Uganda for various offences.
The three were Olivier Prentout, Marketing Chief Officer, deported to France, General Manager of Sales and Distribution, Annie Tabura deported to Rwanda.
Elsa Mussolini, General Manager of Mobile Money was also deported to Italy.
They were accused of using their offices to access information and tap calls, allegedly compromising the east African country’s national security.
Mussolini told colleagues that she was accused of inciting violence. She is also accused of transferring huge sums of money to Musician and lawmaker Bobi Wine.
Police say that financing was executed during a recent demonstration over taxes on social media services.
Last year in July, MTN Uganda’s officers were raided by police leading to the disconnection of four of its servers.
MTN which operates in 22 countries has been operating in Uganda for the past twenty years.
