South African Power Provider Eskom has asked its Senior Managers to cancel their leave to deal with ongoing power cuts in the country.
The cancellation is coming on the back of the recent intermittent power cuts in the South African country.
The move is to ensure power consumers enjoy uninterruptible power supply during the Christmas season.
South Africa’s power provider Eskom last month revealed it is extending its load shedding regime from four stages.
That is meant to allow up to 4,000 megawatts (MW) of demand to be shed to eight stages.
Eskom officials say the latest shedding regime would represent more than 26% of the electricity demand of 30,009 MW forecast for this week.
It had earlier refuted claims that it does not have enough coal reserves to meet the country’s electricity needs.
Report says South Africa is experiencing a return of blackouts, prompting fears of a repeat of widespread outages in 2008 which crippled the country’s economy.
